Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association (HKOMA) 24th Executive Committee Inauguration Ceremony Gala Dinner was successfully held on 6-11-2025 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Banquet Hall S221.

Under more than 250 guests' witness, Ms. Michelle Ng, CEO of Arts Optical Group, is being the the president of HKOMA in the coming 2 years. Dr. Bernard CHAN, JP, Under Secretary, Commerce and Economic Bureau of The Government of Hong Kong Special Administration Region was the guest of honor to officiate the swearing-in ceremony.

HKTDC 23rd Hong Kong International Optometry Conference

Award Presentation of 25th Hong Kong Eyewear Design Competition

HKOMA and HKTDC have organized the competition with sponsorship from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) since 1999. It aims to encourage new design ideas for Hong Kong eyewear products.

The competition of the student group and open group were attracted over 100 design entries. The total amount of winning design cash prize was HKD32,000, of which HKD20,000 was sponsored by HKOMA, and the remaining HKD12,000 was covered by the HKTDC.

This year marks the 25th edition of the competition. The list of winners and the awards ceremony were held in the afternoon of the first day of the Hong Kong International Optical Fair (November 5, 2025) at the Brand Name Gallery (BNG) Rendezvous. The winning and shortlisted works were also displayed in the Brand Name Gallery (BNG) Rendezvous during the fair.

An appreciation acknowledgement is given to the sponsors who made the full scale mock-up for the student group finalists of the Competition in 2025. They are:-

Please be informed that the 24th Executive Committee (2025-2027) of Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association (HKOMA) was successfully elected in its Annual General Meeting tonight (on August 11th 2025). The new Executive Committee will be inaugurated in early November 2025.
We would like to congratulate Ms. Michelle Ng, the Incoming President and the two Incoming Vice Presidents Mr. Evan Tse and Mr. Dicky Ma.
Ms. Michelle Ng thanks members for their support. She and the new committee members will strive to pursue the mission of the Association, as well as to achieve greater goals for the Hong Kong optical industry.

Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) Emerging Design Talents 2025 ~ Mentorship program

In order to further enhance the level of Hong Kong eyewear design and establish a new generation of eyewear design concepts, 4 members of HKOMA joined the above mentorship program :

The program was started in January 2025. Each participating manufacturer mentor spent about 45 minutes every week on the ZOOM / MICROSOFT TEAM online platform to communicate with a student recommended by HKDI. The students reported their design concepts to their instructors for professional advice. In the later stages of the program, the instructors created a set of glasses for their students' designs. The mock-ups are showcasing at HKDI's graduation exhibition today (on 27 June 2025).

HKOMA Eyewear 3D Printing Technology Study Mission

Asia Pacific Eye Health Summit (Hong Kong Edition) & Greater Bay Area Optometry Practice Development Forum

The summit was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on the last day of the 2024 Hong Kong International Optical Fair, with the theme of exploring the latest trends and opportunities in the field of eye health in the Greater Bay Area. It was organized by the Asian Optometric Practice Management Association and the Hong Kong Optometric Association, and co-organized by the Complete Optometry Magazine. HKOMA was invited to be the supporting unit of this summit. HKOMA President Ms. Grace Cho participated in the "Summit Launching Ceremony", "Roundtable Forum", "Greater Bay Area Eye Health Alliance Cooperation Launching Ceremony" and expressed her guest remarks to the guests.

Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) Evening Workshop for HKOMA Members – Taster of Vizcom AI in Eyewear Product Design

On 16 August 2024, HKOMA cooperated with HKDI to hold an evening eyewear design workshop - "Taster of AI in Product Design", explaining the steps of Vizcom AI to convert 2D product sketches into 3D models. Designers can create a set of three-dimensional product samples with the help of Vizcom intelligent software and display them directly to customers. A total of 16 design practitioners from eyewear companies participated, and the trainees all said that Vizcom AI tool could be applied in eyewear design and marketing.
